Paul Jobin

Paul Jobin started life as a “karate kid”, sharpening the knives in a Japanese restaurant in Wellington with three chefs from Tokyo. After qualifying as a chef, Paul moved to Auckland and then across the ditch to Sydney, where he was head chef at a Darlinghurst restaurant. Since then Paul’s cookery talents have been showcased in cities as diverse as Bratislava, Prague and New York. The traveling chef is well respected in New Zealand by his peers for his sound Asian inspired cuisine and workable innovative ideas.

Paul was lured back home to work at Huka Lodge in Taupo, and then to Northland as Executive Chef at the The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs. Paul now runs Pure Tastes in Paihia, where he enjoys the laid back Northland lifestyle. He has won numerous culinary competitions and food awards, participated in a live radio food show, had recipes featured in magazines and has demonstrated all over New Zealand.

Paul has made guest appearances on TV ONE’s Good Morning, the Taste NZ Christmas Special, Food TV’s NZ on a Plate and Masterclass, and this year plans to publish his own cook book, showcasing fresh New Zealand produce.
