Annabel Langbein

“Cooking has given me enormous pleasure throughout my life. I actually trained in horticulture and learned to cook by gaining experience on the job. Now I find those two elements have come together in my quest to help people make the right food choices, environmentally, nutritionally and economically.”

Annabel Langbein is one of New Zealand's most creative culinary figures. Since 1984, Annabel has worked in the media as a food writer and presenter, beginning with a fortnightly column for the NZ Listener magazine.

She was a feature writer for Cuisine magazine for 11 years and food editor for Grace magazine. Annabel works regularly on television as a food presenter and she also hosts a successful, long-running weekly radio talkback food show.

Annabel established the Culinary Institute of New Zealand, a specialist food marketing consultancy, and was responsible for numerous marketing and media campaigns for New Zealand food manufacturers, retailers and exporters, as well as promoting New Zealand food offshore for Trade New Zealand.

As the author of eight top-selling food books including Eat Fresh, Assemble, The Best of Annabel Langbein, Cooking to Impress, Savour the Pacific and Savour Italy, Annabel has won many New Zealand food-writing awards and several international cookbook awards. Her books have been published internationally in nine languages. She currently devotes her time to writing and publishing, spending time with her family, and sharing her passion for food with us.
